Twitter: Leeds have been looking at a season-long loan for striker Ashley Fletcher for a few weeks but injuries at West Ham have put that in doubt. (@PhilHayYEP)
The 20-year-old striker signed for West Ham on a four-year contract this summer after his deal with Manchester United came to an end. It’s believed a compensation package worth £500,000 was agreed as part of the move.
Championship side Leeds, as well as Barnsley and Wolves were interested in signing Fletcher this summer but he opted to join the Hammers.
He came on to make his Hammers debut after an impressive pre-season against NK Domzale in the Europa League third qualifying round and is tipped to have a big future at the club.
Fletcher was impressive off the bench against Astra Giurgiu on Thursday, a performance Slaven Bilic lauded which could mean Fletcher could have a bigger first-team role than anticipated.
However, today, the Hammers announced the signing of Simone Zaza from Juventus are remain in the market for another forward, meaning Fletcher could be best served out on loan.
