The 18-year-old midfielder never made an appearance for the Hammers during his time at the club and felt it was best to move on to pastures new.
Carter arrives at The Valley on a two-year deal and will join Jason Euell’s development squad for the 2016/17 season.
He featured for the Charlton U23s in a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town on Sunday before penning a permanent deal with the club.
West Ham are fortunate to have a number of talented young midfielders at the club so it’s unlikely that Carter’s departure will be a big one.
The likes of Marcus Browne, Diego Poyet, Moses Makasi and Martin Samuelsen are all well ahead of Carter at West Ham which would’ve made the teenager’s progression into the first-team very tough.
We’d like to wish Carter the very best on his future with Charlton.
