Mario Mandzukic on West Ham’s radar
Another day, another striker linked with a move to West Ham…
The Hammers have been trying to get in at least one new forward all summer, with the likes of Christian Benteke, Carlos Bacca, Carlos Tevez and many more all being reported targets for the club.
So far, the efforts have not bared any fruit and with reported targets looking set to stay put or move to other clubs, the Hammers have apparently identified another.
According to Simon Jones of the Mail , Mario Mandzukic is on West Ham’s hitlist amidst speculation that he could leave Juventus this summer.
Juve look set to sign Gonzalo Higuain for a massive £76million, which would leave Mandzukic on the sidelines, and at age 30, he’s likely going to want to be somewhere where he gets regular football.
However, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, his agent suggested that he’d stay at Juve even if Higuain signs.
He said:
Mario’s position [at Juve] is not in question. Even if [they] were to [sign] Higuain there would be no problems, even more encouragement to do better.
Slaven Bilic knows Mandzukic well from his time managing the Croatian national team and at a reported asking price of £12million, he could provide real value for money.
