AC Milan join West Ham in chase for Simone Zaza
AC Milan are keeping tabs on the situation around Juventus striker Simone Zaza who is also a target for West Ham, according to Calciomercato.
The 25-year-old joined Juventus last summer from Sassuolo and scored just five goals in 19 appearances as Massimiliano Allegri’s fourth-choice striker.
Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have already had a €25m bid turned down for Zaza earlier in the window as the player weighs up his future, and he will be allowed to leave if he hands in a formal transfer request and will look for around €30m. Juventus completed the £75m signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Serie A rivals Napoli this week which has possibly made the likes of Zaza and his team-mate Mario Mandzukic expendable.
Both are wanted by the Hammers, but Mandzukic’s agent has stated that Higuain’s arrival hasn’t changed his client’s stance around staying in Turin for the forthcoming season.
West Ham’s No.1 target right now remains AC Milan’s Carlos Bacca, but his situation remains up in the air as he continues to decline the Hammers’ offers. Milan have set a deadline of July 31st for a transfer to be completed or he’s taken off the market, with West Ham willing to up their offer again for a final time to reach a positive conclusion.
Should West Ham fail in their pursuit of Bacca, they will make a move for the former Sassuolo man who Juventus will make available for transfer following Higuain’s arrival. However, should Bacca give the green light to a move to East London, Milan will approach Juventus over the purchase of Zaza
