West Ham close to signing Arsenal youngster
West Ham are closing in on their third signing of the summer, Arsenal youngster Tyrell Robinson.
Robinson was absent from Arsenal training yesterday to finalise a two-year contract with West Ham, according to the Daily Mail. Official confirmation of his switch from North to East London is expected to surface in the coming days.
The 18-year-old is capable of playing at left-back, but his preferred position is at left wing. In fact, Tyrell has become increasingly frustrated with Arsenal’s academy coaching staff for constantly deploying him at left-back, as per Arsenal Youth.
Tyrell progressed through Arsenal’s academy system and signed his first professional contract in January 2015. He is yet to make a first-team appearance, but he did feature prominently in the under-21 side – making 13 appearances in the U21 Premier League and seven in the UEFA Youth League.
Robinson will follow Sofiane Feghouli and Havard Nordveit through the door to become West Ham’s third signing of the summer – and several more are expected to follow.
