Leicester agree €16m fee for West Ham target Mendy
Leicester City have reached an agreement with OGC Nice for the transfer of West Ham target Nampalys Mendy. L’Equipe believe the fee is €16million (approximately £13million) plus add ons and bonuses.
Mendy is thought to be the successor to French star N’Golo Kante who played a major role in Leicester’s Premier League title triumph last season. Kante’s performance attracted attention from a host of clubs across Europe and Claudio Ranieri is now resigned to losing him. Mendy is a player in a similar mold to the 24-year-old and will be a worthy replacement.
Mendy and his agent visited Leicester’s training ground last Monday to check out the facilities. He also engaged in talks while in England and agreed a four-year deal, subject to a medical examination.
Slaven Bilic is certainly keen on bolstering his midfield options this summer, with Mario Lemina and Joe Allen both emerging as West Ham targets within the last 24 hours.
