Southampton keen on Randolph move
Southampton have reportedly shown an interest in signing West Ham back-up goalkeeper Darren Randolph this summer.
According to HITC, the Saints are keen on adding to their goalkeeper ranks behind England international Fraser Forster as they really don’t have much else than the former Newcastle and Celtic man.
Saints stalwart Kelvin Davis retired at the end of last season while Dutch international Maarten Stekelenburg returned to Championship side Fulham after his season-long loan came to an end.
The Hammers signed Randolph on a free transfer last summer following his release from Championship side Birmingham City and the 29-year-old impressed when called upon, making 15 appearances in all competitions keeping six clean sheets in the process.
His strong displays between the sticks for West Ham earned him a deserved call-up into the Republic of Ireland national side where he has re-established himself as the No.1 as they entered Euro 2016. Randolph has been a key performer as Ireland have progressed to the last 16 where they take on Dimitri Payet and France this afternoon.
It’s unlikely the Hammers would entertain offers for Randolph this summer after he proved he is a more than capable deputy to Adrian should he be called upon.
