Marseille have nine days to sell Batshuayi
Marseille have nine days to raise €25m in funds or risk facing sanctions from the DNCG for failing to meet their criteria.
According to Le Parisien, quoted by GFFN, Marseille could face a transfer embargo or possibly worse if they fail to raise the funds tasked of them by the DNCG board.
The Ligue 1 club met with the DNCG on Wednesday who came to the conclusion there were not satisfied with the club accounts who have budgeted for, accounted for and promised the sale of star striker Michy Batshuayi to meet these requirements.
The DNCG have decided to instruct Marseille to find €25m in the next 10 days or face sanctions. They have one option – find a buyer for Michy Batshuayi in the next nine days.
Club president Vincent Labrune is believed to want Batshuayi to complete a move to West Ham over Premier League rivals Tottenham because they are offering a better deal for the Belgian striker.
Tottenham will refuse to meet the asking price of €40m for the 22-year-old striker who will play second-fiddle to England star Harry Kane. Juventus who are also keen on Batshuayi are also reluctant to meet their demands.
Marseille do have one offer on the table – West Ham’s €35m bid, plus €5m in add-ons, remains on the table and has been for some time. This is the only offer which comes close to their asking price.
The clock is ticking on Marseille to find the €25m they need to avoid DNCG sanctions and the Hammers are the cash-cow they need to do so.
