Juventus won’t meet Marseille’s asking price for Batshuayi
Juventus are set to launch a £23million bid for Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi of Marseille, according to the Express.
The impending sale of Alvaro Morata to Real Madrid has forced Juve into entering the transfer market for a striker. AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen, who is also a target of West Ham’s and AS Roma’s Antonio Sanabria are also said to be on their short-list, but Batshuayi is their highest priority.
Batshuayi would welcome a move to Juventus, but the Serie A champions are unprepared to match Marseille’s asking price, as per Tuttosport. £23million is the highest they will go.
Marseille’s chairman Vincent Labrune would prefer to sell to West Ham, as they are prepared to match the £29million asking price, but the player is holding out for a Champions League side.
It is thought Batshuayi would be open to a move to West Ham, even though he is holding out for a bigger club. The lure of Europa League football, playing every week in the Premier League and being in London, not to mention a significant wage rise, would be too good to turn down.
