West Ham are said to be on the verge of completing a deal to sign Michy Batshuayi from Marseille this summer, according to the Express.
It was reported earlier today that Marseille president Vincent Labrune would rather sell his star striker to the Hammers over Premier League rivals Tottenham because they were offering a better deal.
Marseille are looking for around £30.8m to sell the Belgian striker this summer, who has reportedly signalled his intent to join Tottenham but as it stands, Spurs are not willing to meet their asking price making West Ham his likely destination.
The situation with Marseille is quite strange. In their financial accounts they will present to the DNCG at the end of June, they have already accounted for Batshuayi’s sale in order to meet the regulations set of them.

As it stands, with nine days left of the month, Batshuayi is still as Marseille player, and those costs they have accounted for have yet to be covered, meaning they could face sanctions from the DNCG where the strongest penalty would be demotion to the French Ligue 2.
Labrune and Marseille are looking for €40m (£30.8m) to sell the Belgian striker this summer in order to cover those costs and avoid sanctions. Batshuayi, however, is willing to hold out for the right offer to come in for him, but Marseille don’t have that time.
With Tottenham at the moment ruling themselves out of a deal by refusing to meet Marseille’s demands, the Ligue 1 club and West Ham are on the verge of agreeing a deal which will see the 22-year-old striker move to East London.
