West Ham have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit for Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi, despite agreeing to match Marseille’s asking price.
According to Squawka, Batshuayi was offered a £80,000-a-week by the Hammers, but has snubbed their approach in favour of a move to Premier League rivals Tottenham.
Notoriously tough negotiator Daniel Levy has so far refused to entertain the idea of stumping up the €40million being asked for by Marseille but, with West Ham prepared to match the asking price, his hand may be forced.

Should Spurs refuse to meet their demands, Batshuayi may be forced to move to East London – in a similar scenario that led to Dimitri Payet’s arrival at Upton Park last summer.
The cash-strapped club are under pressure to offload their star players in order to meet DNCG regulations.
Marseille have already budgeted for Michy Batshuayi’s departure in their financial accounts that will be presented at the end of the month – meaning the Belgian striker will need to be offloaded before July 1st.
