West Ham eyeing cut-price deal for international defender
Slaven Bilic is thought to be keen on signing Arsenal defender, Mathieu Debuchy this summer according to French outlet,Mercarto 365.
The defender is facing an uncertain future at the Emirates Stadium following Hector Bellerin’s emergence this season. It was the Spaniard’s form that forced the defender to leave on loan in January.
He saw out the remaining months of the season on loan to Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux, despite being linked with a move to Manchester United on deadline day.
The 30-year-old is under contract with Arsene Wenger’s side until 2019, but Bilic sees Debuchy as an ideal candidate as he looks to add depth to his squad in the hope of securing European football next season.
West Ham had Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson on loan this season but saw his loan deal cut short after the defender suffered a season-ending knee injury back in January.
Should Bilic fail in his pursuit of Debuchy he could consider Paris Saint-Germain defender, Gregory van der Wiel, who’s contract is coming to an end in the French capital.
