West Ham linked with Argentine striker
West Ham United are in negotiations to sign Argentinian forward Jonathan Calleri, according to a report in the Brazilian publication Lance.
The report explains that the 22-year-old’s contract and ownership rights are the main reason behind any possible move, as it’s actually a group of investors who can decide where to sell him to.
Bear with me, I’ll try to explain this…
Calleri is officially registered as a player with Chilean side Deportivo Maldonado after transferring from the Argentine club Boca Juniours, but he’s currently on loan at Brazilian side Sao Paulo.
Right.
Well, the move that took the striker from Boca to Deportivo Maldonado was actually brokered by an investment group and they technically own the player’s rights and it seems like they are now ready to sell him.
Inter Milan and West Ham are apparently in negotiations to buy the forward, but according to the report, the negotiations with the Hammers seem to be moving forward with pace.
Will West Ham sign Calleri? Watch this space, I guess!
