West Ham linked with ‘the new Vidic’
West Ham are interested in bringing the player dubbed the ‘Next Nemanja Vidic’ to East London, according to Talksport.
Nikola Maksimovic, who plays for Torino in the Italian Serie A, had attracted interest from West Ham and London rivals Spurs in the January transfer window. However, the 24-year-old defender stayed put in Northern Italy.
Manchester United are now believed to be interested in the defender, with Louis Van Gaal reportedly wanting to sign the Serb in the Summer window.
Torino are bracing themselves for the ex-Red Star Belgrade player’s departure after Maksimovic returned to his best after some time on the sidelines in the winter.
Maksimovic has picked up seven caps for his national side and has made over sixty appearances for Torino since signing for them in 2013. He is a central defender who is seemingly quite agile for his height and is quite effective in the air. Quite a few people in his homeland compare him to former United defender Vidic, who retired last year.
