Celtic consider bid for West Ham youngster
West Ham defender Stephen Hendrie is reportedly a transfer target for Celtic as they begin searching for a replacement for Emilio Izaguirre, who is set to make a switch to the MLS.
According to a report in the Daily Record, Celtic scouted Hendrie when he was playing for Hamilton early last year, but they didn’t act quickly enough and the full-back signed for the Hammers instead.
The 21-year-old has not really been considered as a viable option for West Ham this season and is currently on loan at League One side Southend United, where he was brought in as cover after their regular left-back Ben Coker was ruled out through injury.
He has made four appearances in his short-term loan spell at Southend, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
The move to England hasn’t really worked out the way that Hendrie would have wanted he is reportedly keen on making the move back to Scotland and West Ham would likely let him leave for a small fee.
