Manchester City and Chelsea are both set to make summer moves for West Ham’s French international midfielder Dimitri Payet, according to L’Equipe.
The 28-year-old has been one of the stars of the Premier League since his £10.8million summer switch from French club Olympique Marseille and his performances have made the Citizens and the Londoners interested in his services.
Payet is currently in contract talks with West Ham United after an unnamed Chinese club reportedly bid £38million and were prepared to offer the him £7million-a-year in wages.
As well as this, The Mirror recently reported that Payet’s agent demanded a new contract worth £125,000-a-week less than a year after the former Lille star signed a five-year-deal with the Irons.
Payet is already a firm fan’s favourite at Upton Park and has enjoyed a productive season so far, with six goals and four assists in 17 Premier League starts.
But in light of these recent demands, West Ham may lose the talismanic Frenchman if they don’t hand him and his agent a bumper new deal.
