West Ham are reportedly eyeing a surprise move for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Josip Drmic as Slaven Bilic hopes to add more firepower to his squad ahead of the second half of the season.
The Hammers have already been heavily linked with a number of forwards so far this month, with recent links regarding an audacious £18million move for Liverpool front man Daniel Sturridge.
As well as the England international, Juventus’ 24-year-old forward Simone Zaza has also been linked with a move to Bilic’s side.
The reported fee that West Ham are willing to cough up for the Switzerland international is said to be around the £15million mark; a big price to pay for yet another attacking option.
West Ham’s current attacking options are not the greatest, due to the effects of injuries and unwanted distractions off the pitch limiting the options for Bilic.
Despite holding a set of impressive goal scoring records at former clubs Nurnberg and Bayer Leverkusen, Drmic has not had the same fortunes at his third Bundesliga club; Monchengladbach. The Swiss forward has managed just five appearances for the club and a move away is almost certainly on the cards.
Diafra Sakho has recently been in the news for all the wrong reasons after crashing his Lamborghini into a house and a car in the last week whilst injury-prone striker Andy Carroll has picked up yet another hamstring injury that will rule him out for a further three weeks at least, so it makes sense for attackers to be linked with a move to West Ham.
