West Ham are the latest side to send scouts to watch Grays Athletic striker Dumebi Dumaka, who is seemingly attracting the attention of Football League sides across the country.
The 21-year-old has spent time training with Cambridge, Fleetwood and Ipswich already this season, and according to Scott Wilson of The Express, the Hammers are the latest club to take an interest in him.
Dumaka currently plays in the Isthmian League Premier Division, the seventh tier of English football, where he has scored 15 goals so far this season.
Teams across the four professional divisions seem to looking to non-league clubs for potential hidden gems, and the fact that Chris Smalling and record-breaker Jamie Vardy are all but certain to be in the England squad for Euro 2016 shows that there is a precedent for non-league players to play at the highest level.
With West Ham having watched him on numerous occasisons, manager Slaven Bilic will need to decide if he thinks it’s worth the club taking a chance on the striker.
