The Daily Mail claim that West Ham United are in poll position to sign Leeds youngster Sam Byram.

West Ham have been linked with Byram for quite a while now however now the transfer window is officially open, talks have begun. Byram has come through the Leeds youth ranks. He has played a lot this season at right back and a little bit at right wing proving he can play in more than one position.

Byram has a pass accuracy of 74% in the Championship so far this season along with having successfully made 14 tackles so far. He has also scored three goals.

If the youngster does come to West Ham, Carl Jenkinson may leave the club. Jenkinson is currently on loan from Arsenal however after some poor form at the beginning of the season he was dropped for James Tomkins. Tomkins has been playing out of position however he has done a much better job than Jenkinson.

West Ham haven’t secured this signing however they’re ahead in the race against Liverpool and Everton.
