Ex-Arsenal midfielder Alex Song has reportedly failed his medical with West Ham ahead of a free transfer move from Barcelona.
It was confirmed by David Sullivan on the KUMB podcast earlier in the week that the Hammers had agreed a deal with Barcelona for the Cameroonian’s transfer, and a three-year contract would be signed if he passed a medical.
“We have a deal in place with Alex Song subject to a medical, if the medical is ok, we’ll take him. ”
Song was pictured yesterday outside the Spire Roding Hotel, the West Ham club hospital where they conduct their medicals, arriving for his tests ahead of a proposed move.

However, it’s being reported by La Liga writer Andrew Gaffney of Yahoo! that the Barcelona man has failed that medical.

It’s not over though, as he confirms that the club are willing to offer the 27-year-old a second medical, possibly later on in the transfer window.
It’s well documented that Song is not fit, having recently undergone surgery on his ankle to remove a piece of floating bone in the joint, which will put him out of action until early October.
Sullivan was well aware of this and stated that the club have until September 1st to make a decision on the transfer, which indicates a resolution is not on the horizon.
“He’s injured at the moment, which is something you’ve got to weight up. But we’ve got until September 1st to make a decision.”
Song is West Ham’s top priority this summer, and they will do all they can to get this one over the line.
