West Ham are in a real battle to sign Atalanta striker German Denis this summer.
According to Italian source TMW, fellow Serie A side Sampdoria have registered their interest in signing the former Argentine international striker before the end of the transfer window.
A prior report stated that Atalanta may be forced to sell their main striker this summer, as they are strapped for cash and could sell Denis for a cut-price fee as a result.
The 33-year-old has 69 goals in 226 Serie A appearances for Atalanta and is being looked at by West Ham as a backup for crocked strikers Enner Valencia and Andy Carroll.
Enner Valencia looks set to miss at least five months of football as it’s been reported today that the Ecuadorian will be out until the New Year through a severe knee and ankle injury suffered against FC Astra; Andy Carroll is still on the road to recovery from an MCL tear he picked up against Southampton back in February.
