West Ham are left ‘unconvinced’ on whether to complete a deal to sign AS Roma striker Mattia Destro this summer, reports TMW.
The Hammers were understood to be at an advanced stage with negotiations to sign the 24-year-old on a season-long loan, provided the Serie A club could recruit a replacement.
However, West Ham are said to be reconsidering completing a move for the Italian international, who has 29 goals in 69 games for Roma, and spent the second half of last season on loan at AC Milan, but only found the net three times in 15 appearances.
Destro isn’t the only Roma forward West Ham are looking at signing this month, as they also have loan bids on the table for both Gervinho and Seydou Doumbia, as the Italian side are looking to shake up their striking options.
The Destro situation has forced West Ham’s hand into looking elsewhere, and have submitted a £9m bid for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, which is said to be close to their valuation of the Mexican, while the club are also considering a cash plus player offer for Charlie Austin.
