Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that West Ham are planning to inavde AS Roma of their players. The newspaper reported that West Ham are plotting loan moves for Seydou Doumbia, Mattia Destro and former Arsenal winger Gervinho.
The main news from the story was that’s Slaven Bilic was plotting to take him on loan before making the deal permanent for £10m bid for the Ivorian at the end of next season, but the deal is fixed therefore the £10m must be paid to the Italian’s even if Gervinho wasn’t a success.
The story comes in light of the heavy speculation that the 28-year old was expected to move to Abu Dhabi and play for two-time UAE President’s cup winners Al-Jazira alongside former Roma and Juventus striker Mirko Vučinić but the deal fell through amid claims of demands of helicopters, private beaches and plane tickets, which the Ivorian hit back at the claims stating:
“I have no idea where that information comes from, but I have never demanded such things.
“When I sign a contract I don’t care about those things: everything that has been said about me is false.”
Gervinho made an impact during his first season at Giallorossi, finding the net on nine occasions and assisting a further ten. However, his last season in Rome, in just twenty-four appearances, he only managed two goals and a further four assists.
Also it has been reported that West Ham are planning to continue their raid, following the heavy speculation that Roma are confident that they will sign Bosnian Eden Dzeko for around £20million. With this speculation ever-growing, it is increasingly forcing Seydou Doumbia out as the Ivorian is keen on departing Italy and is also keen on a move although he would prefer a permanent move away from the Stadio Olympico.
Despite Premier League newcomers Watford’s interest, it is unlikely he will make a move to Vicarage Road with Upton Park being more appealing with the opportunity of linking up with new signings Dimitri Payet, Angelo Ogbonna and Pedro Obiang.
West Ham have also negotiated Roma over the availability of Mattia Destro, the 24-year old’s agent has reportedly been in London for talks according to another Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport who is also looking to make a loan move permanent, he scored 24 goals in 67 appearances for Roma during his three years at the club. He is keen on making a move to the Premier League.
