West Ham are lining up another raid on Juventus this summer following the arrival of defender Angelo Ogbonna earlier this week.
According to Italian news outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the Hammers are considering a surprising swoop for out-of-favour striker Fernando Llorente.
The Spaniard is expected to leave Turin this summer for first-team football, and has also been linked with a move to Premier League duo Tottenham and Liverpool, as well as a sensational return to Spain with Real Madrid.
The 30-year-old signed for Juventus in the summer of 2013 on a free transfer from Athletic Bilbao and has made 90 appearances for the club in two seasons, scoring 29 goals, and also has international pedigree with Spain, scoring seven times in 23 appearances for the national side.
However, a return of only nine goals in 45 games last season has forced Juve to bring in other options up front, including Paulo Dybala from Palermo and Simone Zaza from Sassuolo.
Llorente is very similar mould of striker to Andy Carroll – a large target-man type forward, so it’s hard to see if he offers us anything new in that area, despite the club expressing their desire to add another forward to the ranks.
