Manchester United are lining up a shock move for West Ham star striker Diafra Sakho, reports the Daily Mail.
Louis van Gaal wants an exciting striker to replace the outgoing Robin van Persie, who’s undergoing a medical at Fenerbahce ahead of a £4.9m move.
The 25-year-old Senegalese international striker scored 12 goals in 26 games last season for West Ham, and already bagged a brace this season in their opening game in the Europa League against FC Lusitans.
West Ham co-owner David Gold recently stated how much he believes in Sakho and the heights he can reach.
‘He is the one who can surprise everyone. I believe he can become a world-class striker. He has the passion and attributes to be one of the top forwards in the Premier League.‘ he said.
Sakho turned out to be one of the bargain buys of last season following his £3.5m move for FC Metz, and is a fan favourite at the club.
The Hammers have already turned down an approach from Newcastle to sign their star man, and have absolutely no intentions to sell him.
If anything, the club are looking to add to their striking options next season, with Roma forward Mattia Destro set to sign on a season-long loan.
