West Ham are currently in discussions with four Premier League clubs in regards to signing a new striker this summer, reports the Daily Mail.
The two names who head the list are QPR’s Charlie Austin and Chelsea’s Loic Remy, with the Hammers ready to push hard for the player they can striker a better deal for.
Austin scored 18 league goals last season for relegated QPR, who are willing to sell, but their lofty £15m asking price for the 25-year-old is putting off a number of potential suitors, including Newcastle and Crystal Palace.
Remy on the other hand appears to be available for a much cheaper fee, with £10m being spoken about as a fair amount. The Frenchman would like command a high wage to consider a switch from West to East London.
Next on our wish-list is Liverpool’s Fabio Borini. The Italian forward is available for £8m, but the Hammers are not prepared to meet his £100,000-a-week wage demands.
West Ham asked to take Borini on loan last summer, but Liverpool declined, and it’s understood that a loan move would be the preferred option for the Hammers.
Finally Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez continues to be a target as he looks set to leave Old Trafford. The Mexican poacher is also being tracked by Liverpool, and West Ham are still discussing a potential move.
