West Ham have opened talks with AS Monaco for the signing of highly-rated centre-back Aymen Abdennour, reports GFN France who quote Foot Mercato.
The Tunisian defender caught the eye of many teams in Europe this season with some exceptional performances in the Champions League, most notably during AS Monaco’s two-legged victory over Arsenal.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move out of France this season, as fellow Premier League sides Newcastle and Liverpool have been said to be interested, as well as Serie A duo Juventus and AC Milan.
Foot Mercato reported today that Newcastle had offered €17m for the centre-back, which falls short of the €20m valuation they have on the player if he wants to leave.
Liverpool and West Ham have recently opened talks with the Ligue 1 side over a possible move, and it’s said that Abdennour would prefer a move to these clubs over Newcastle, due to their involvement in European football.
Although, Juventus and AC Milan have both also made undisclosed bids for the player.
