West Ham have signalled their desire to pay up to €15m for Italian international striker Mattia Destro this summer, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.
It was reported yesterday that the Hammers would go toe-to-toe with Arsenal for the signing of the AS Rome striker, who looks set to leave the club this season despite scoring 29 in 69 games for the club.
Destro spent the second half of last season on loan at Serie A rivals AC Milan, where he managed to score three goals in 15 appearances, but that wasn’t enough to wow the Milan hierarchy and make his loan move permanent.
Now it’s being reported that instead of a loan move for the 24-year-old, West Ham, as well as Crystal Palace have revealed their intent to sign the player on a permanent basis, for a fee which could be as high as €15m.
The Hammers, desperate to add a striker, are said to be the most keen on signing Destro this summer as their campaign kicks off in just nine days in the first qualifying round of the Europa League at Upton Park against Andorran side FC Lusitans.
