West Ham are readying a surprising summer move for Tottenham midfielder Moussa Dembele, reports the Express.
The Belgian international has found first-team opportunities hard to come by in the Spurs team due to the emergence of Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason, and could be offloaded this summer for the right price.
Chelsea are also interested in the former AZ Alkmaar man, who’s made 118 appearances for Tottenham since his move from Fulham three years ago, scoring only five times.
Tottenham are trying to force a summer clear-out, getting rid of the ‘deadwood’ that were signed with the Gareth Bale money and haven’t lived up to expectation – with the likes of Paulinho, Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado all being offered to clubs.
The Blues want to add to their diminishing midfield ranks with the imminent departure of John Obi Mikel, and want the 27-year-old to help anchor the midfield alongside Nemanja Matic, but will have to pay £12m for his services.
The Hammers are in a similar situation, but are expected to welcome back Alex Song on a permanent deal from Barcelona this week.
