West Ham are closing in on the signing of Alex Song from Barcelona, Goal understands.
Luis Enrique has no interest in keeping Alex Song in his first-team squad next season, and was to be sold this summer, with Manchester City and Chelsea both reportedly interested.
The Cameroonian spent last season on loan at Upton Park and was impressive, but it was always rumoured that Song was angling for a move to a bigger club.
Song sent out a photo yesterday of him ‘back in London’ and held a meeting during the afternoon, and Goal reports Song is happy to return on a permanent basis.
“West Ham want Alex back and he is happy to return. Talks are ongoing with Barcelona but they are progressing and West Ham won’t give up.” according to Goal.
Barcelona are understood to be demanding a fee in the region of £5m for Song, who has two years left on his deal at the Nou Camp.
