West Ham have made a €15m bid for Dimitri Payet, reports L’Equipe.
It’s been reported for the last week or so that the Hammers were nearing an agreement over a contract with Payet, with a four-year, £70,000-a-week deal being mentioned.
All that remained was the fee, and it was reported on Tuesday that the Ligue 1 club were looking for £12m to sell the Frenchman.
It’s now being claimed that a bid of €15m (£10.75m) has been lodged by West Ham – the exact same fee the club spent on signing Matt Jarvis.

——— UPDATE ———
There have been new developments in the ongoing transfer saga surrounding Marseille winger Dimitri Payet.
French news outlet Le Parisien has reported that Payet has suffered an automatic wage drop due to Marseille not qualifying for the Champions League is.
What this means is the 28-year-old is now earning around £45,000-a-week, as apposed to his prior £62,000-a-week, which he has not responded well too.
The attacking midfielder reportedly rejected five-year, £60,000-a-week contract with the Hammers, as he is looking for nearer the £80,000-a-week mark.
The Hammers are believed to have agreed a £6m deal with the Ligue 1 club for Payet, who has revealed Marseille don’t want to lose him this summer.
“He [Bielsa] does not want to let me go. He asks me each game to reflect on myself after each game and make better immediately what went wrong. I have never known that in my career. When we look at the playing style of Marseille last season, it was an absolute joy to be playing in this system and to play all the games to win them.” Payet said.
After the Boleyn Insider came out yesterday and said the club hope to conclude two deals in the next week or so, speculation increases as to whether Payet is one of the players in question.
West Ham have now reportedly offered an improved offer to Payet to try and lure him to the club.
