Hammers Make Vela Bid

West Ham are being linked with a sensational move for Real Sociedad forward Carlos Vela, according to reports in Spain this morning.

The Mexican international has struggled with injuries this season with Sociedad, but has shown his frustration towards manager David Moyes about his lack of playing time.

It’s said that the 26-year-old may wish to hand in a transfer request with Sociedad, in order to force through a move, possibly back to the Premier League after four years away.

The former Arsenal youngster reportedly rejected a return to the Emirates last summer, following an impressive season where he scored 21 goals and recorded 13 assists playing from the right.

It never panned out for Vela in the Premier League before, failing to top 6 goals playing as a striker in any of his three seasons in the Arsenal first team, but the last four seasons in Spain have helped him develop his game.

The Hammers lack a real goal scoring threat from wide areas, which Vela could provide, as well as terrific cover as the central striker, should we suffer another injury crisis up top next season.

A move for Vela will likely be amped up more by mass media, should West Ham appoint David Moyes as their new manager, which is looking ever more likely.

Southampton are also interested in a move for Vela, as they prepare for another summer of potential sales, with both Jay Rodriguez and Sadio Mane being courted by larger clubs.
