Liverpool are ready to hijack West Ham’s summer move for Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson, reports the Metro.
The England U-21 international has been on loan with West Ham this season, and has revitalised his career which was beginning to stall at Arsenal.
It’s much reported that the Hammers are very interested in signing the 23-year-old to a permanent deal next season, which was expected to be a formality once Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger stated that Jenkinson was ‘free to leave’ the Emirates following the emergence of Hector Bellerin.
However, it appears Liverpool have entered the conversation to sign the once-capped England international, with Glen Johnson expected to leave at the end of the season.
Arsenal are said to be looking for a fee in excess of £6m for the talented defender, which shouldn’t be a problem for either side to meet, which means it would come down to personal preference of young Carl.
